18 Things I Learnt Being 18

As it’s my birthday this week, I thought it was only fitting that I written some kind of reflective post to mark the occasion. Here are 18 things that I learnt while being 18:

1. Being 18 is actually a lot different than being 17

2. Not everything comes straight to you. You have to go out and get it

3. Flying in a plane is kind of scary but doable

4. Edinburgh is so pretty

5. The Cotswolds are just as cute as you would imagine

6. You don’t have to go to university

7. Starting a business is so exciting

8. Starting a business costs a lot of money

9. I can actually start a blog and keep it going for more than a month

10. One Tree Hill is absolutely amazing

11. Having a gap year can be the best anxiety calming thing to do

12. Going on the big wheel in Liverpool is SO scary when it’s windy

13. Twitter is better than Instagram

14. The boat ride on Islands at Chester Zoo is so relaxing and peaceful

15. I don’t want to study fashion at university

16. Barcelona is beautiful but smells a little funny and has hardly any supermarkets

17. You should give yourself time to make big decisions

18. Anxiety is controllable

Great post, I have been wanting to do one similar to this! I agree, taking gap years is very beneficial, that is what I did. And you’re right, you DON”T have to go to University, everyone goes at a different pace through life! x

Edinburgh is insanely pretty! I love this city so much! And Twitter is better than Instagram for conversion and engagement yes! I think making a list of what you’ve learnt until now is great coz it helps to move forward. xx Corinne

I absolutely love this post! I really love point six ‘you don’t have to go to university’, for me that’s so important. As a student myself in my third year I feel young people are pressured by teachers to apply for university, now I don’t know if that’s just me but I don’t think they understand university isn’t for everyone.

    Such a good post xx
